Do You Suspect Abuse?

If you have reason to believe that a child is being abused...

• DON'T try to investigate

• DON'T confront the abuser

• DO report reasonable suspicions

Do not press the child for more information than he or she wants to give.  However, let the child know that it is OK for he or she to talk about the abuse with you.

Thank the child for sharing the information and tell the child that you will help.

Then call the Child Abuse Hotline or law enforcement.
